Westerado is a game I am working on in Ostrich Banditos. A VOF I'm part of. this is still an early beta now, so I can't show anything.

I'm the lead programmer on Westerado. We work with another programmer, an artist, a manager/designer, an artist and a lead designer. I also help with design but it's not my main occupation.

Westerado is tough project because of it's size and ambition. programming-wise, it's the biggest game I ever worked on. keeping the structure clear is a real challenge.

our main goal now is to write functions and tools for the designers. this way we don't have to write any code to work on the game, but we just use our tools to fill the game with any content we want.

right now we have two tools. one to write the conversations (gunversation). and level editor where we can create level (duh) but also create triggers and call ingame functions. this is an idea I had for a mobile game. you must launch a ball (angry birds style) toward the red block.

I found it works pretty well, but I stopped working on it because I used something called WCK which easily lets me make phyisics games in flash. the downside was that compiling took very long and flash was not the best level editor. this is game inspired by the simplistic one button games on the appstore. It's quite a challenge to make a game with such simple controls interesting t awesome princess bubblegum by stein sdfgdsfg this is an old puzzle concept I ended up using in Strips and Stripes. Its a bit simple but I like it fg A long time ago I liked to take photographs of everyhing Ho this is game I made for a school project. I programmed everything, designed half ot it and served as team lead.

the goal of the game was to improve the workflow for people working at hospitals. We focused on communication and saw room for improvement. in most hospitals doctors write out the state of the patient and this gets passed on to the next doctor. theres a high change this causes miscommunication and this is what we wanted to prevent.

so in this game you can do create levels or play them. when you make one, you have to describe the path from point A to B. in between, there are obstacels and extra points that you can describe. the player playing your level will not see them, so you have to be accurate.
so when you play, you only see some planets and you have a description of how to get to the end and where the obstacels are.

we found that many people had problems following the descriptions becease they thought they were too vague. the funny thing is that the people who wrote them thought they were as cleas as possible. fd this game was made for the seminar Monatize that Shit by the Vlambeer guys. I worked on it with 2 artists. our goal was to make AND sell a game within 3 weeks.

it was a hard struggle to complete the game but we did it. I also had some contact with flash portals but eventually we couldnt sell the game.

nevertheless I learned a lot about flashpunk the engine I used to program it with and for the first time I actually had some bussiness experience dit is een peerf this is an unfinished project, but this prototypes is functional. I've purely done the programming which is part of reason I stopped working on it, because I found I'd like to have some more freedom when working on a project. this was the first game I completely finished. its about a snail and it's journey to safe his dad. this is a little artsy experiment for a school assignment we had to create a gambling game. the players should thing they are in control, but in the end the game will always win.

after some iterations this is the design me and a classmate ended up with.

it's tempting to think that you can determine the outcome of the game, but that's actually impossible. you only get a cash out when 3 or more squares end up in the gray area. but because of their difference in speed and position you can never end them where you want, on purpose. In this game you have reach the red boxman to complete the level. to make it tricky the environment changes based on your movement.

this was a little test with the WCK Alchemy Port Framework. It enables you to create your physics games visually, without much programming. In the end I stopped working with it because the compile time became way too long. I used to do this a lot when I was bored I like simple I thought it was interesting to make a race game without a key to accelerate. there are a lot of those game on the Ipad, but those felt a little gimmicky to me.

in this prototype, the surface you are colliding with determines your speed. my first game with unity! this is an idea I prototyped long ago in gamemaker. Unity actualy turned out to be just as easy. though I had a bit of trouble making the box physics look natural. An experiment with color. a fun little game made for mobile phones. scare your fish towards the net and catch it! WARNING this game has low framerate and can hurt your eyes.

so that being said, this is a game I worked on quite a while. I playtested a lot with the difficuly and stages. in total, there are 20 stages, how far can you get? This is just a little idea make if it what you want. (tip: turn on your sound) dsfg one of my first flash games dfg
